Alana Rae Sackman (she/her) is an Intimacy Coordinator for film/television and live performance, currently based between New York City and London, UK.
As an Intimacy Professional, Alana has worked on many productions across the tri state area as well as in London, United Kingdom.
Alana has studied with a wide range of industry professionals around the world, including Alicia Rodis (HBO’s in house Intimacy Coordinator), Claire Warden (Broadway’s first Intimacy Director), Collen E. Hughes, and Judi Lewis Ockler.
Alana brings an extensive set of skills to her work, with two decades of being a performer under her belt and experience in both screen and stage. Growing up in New Jersey and having access to a wide range of theatre in New York allowed Alana to mold herself into the artist she aspired to be.
After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts and Cinema Studies from Rutgers University in May 2020, the world shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the entertainment industry at a standstill, Alana decided to return to school where she received her Masters degree in Applied Theatre: Drama in Social, Educational, and Community Contexts from Goldsmiths University of London. She wrote her dissertation on the importance of consent within the theatre education sphere, where she combined her passion for Intimacy procedures and protocols alongside working with young people in schools.
With a trauma-informed approach to her work, Alana is able to communicate effectively and act as a liaison between the actors, crew, and creative team. She strives to create an empowering, ethical and efficient work environment in which all parties are safe, protected, and advocated for, while still keeping the Director’s creative vision in line.
